"Make Something I Love"
An Online Jewelry Community
to Develop your "Inner Game" of Jewelry Design

Connect, Support, Inspire, and Challenge

An online community to help you move "beyond technique" and feel more connected to what you are making.

Would you like to find an online community which is different from a typical Facebook group?

Many online groups are a combination of "show and tell" and "tell me what to do". Many members are often simply looking for shortcuts, unaware that the process of discovery is usually more important than the answer itself.
Without focus and with so much distraction pulling us in different directions, these groups may actually lead us away from where the true learning we seek really lies: within ourselves.

"Make Something I Love" is designed to help you make a change in how you
"think about and make" your art jewelry.

It's not entertainment.
It's not a distraction.
It's actually intended to get you away from your computer or device and help you BEGIN designing, creating, and expressing yourself in new and different ways.
It's like a Creativity University where you can  develop the inner skills which will free you
to develop personal and meaningful artwork.

What do my students tell me they want and need?
I always ask my students in the beginning of a class to share what their goals for the class are. Quite often they tell me that they just want to be able to "make something I love". They may not know what that would look like. They may feel frustrated that they can see jewelry that other artists have made which they love and admire yet cannot figure out how to take their skills, materials, and ideas and create something of their own which they like just as much. They return home from an inspiring workshop (usually focused on a technique) and when they enter their studio they either make artwork which is derivative of the teacher's art or they feel like they are "missing something" and can't do it on their own. Left to their own devices without a teacher, they struggle. Read more...

What it is.
  • This is a safe place for you to learn more about what I like to call the "art stuff": Creativity, Design, and Expression.
  • This is a  place for you to learn and develop your "inner game" art skills
  • This is a source for challenges and exercises to help nudge you slightly outside of your "comfort zone".
  • This is a safe place for you to try something new and fall on your face.
  • This is a  forum to discuss the deeper questions about WHY you make your artwork.
What it is not.
  • This is not a class in which you are told "step by step" what to do.

  • This is not a source for answering your jewelry-making technical questions.

  • This is not a place for you to ask to ask others what they think you should do.

  • This is not a place to tell others what you think they should do.

  • This is not where you will find the "right answer"

How does it work?

The "Make Something I Love" online community is like an online university.
Once you've gone through "orientation" (find your way around the virtual campus), you are ready to begin exploring the different activities available. Topics are like classrooms. You are welcome to open the door to any of these classrooms and participate or just  read, listen, and take it in. A Topic (classroom) may include articles, discussions, questions, and challenges.
Our Topics include:
Learning to Think
Your "Inner Game" Art Skills
Just Do It
Learn and Improve
Achiever Your Goals
Challenge Yourself
Self-Awareness
The "Art Stuff": Design, Creativity, and Expression

You can also join a Group. Think of these as a Club with members who have similar interests.
You can join an existing Group or start your own!
